The Singapore fellowship known as the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Singapore Management University (SMU).

The PhD training is conducted in English in the student's chosen laboratory at the A*STAR and NTU/NUS/SUTD/SMU research institutes. Upon successful completion, students are awarded a PhD by NTU, NUS, SUTD or SMU.

Who can apply for this scholarship to study in Singapore and what are the selection criteria?

International students" refers to students who are not citizens or permanent residents of Singapore and who have not previously studied in Singapore.

There is no age limit for SINGA applicants. While SINGA is aimed at younger applicants, mature applicants with relevant research experience will be considered.

Benefits

This scholarship for study in Singapore provides financial support for up to 4 years of doctoral studies, and includes:
  • Full tuition fee support.
  • Stipends: S$2200 per month (S$26 400 per year), which will be increased to S$2700 per month (S$32 400 per year) after passing the qualifying exams.
  • One-time settling-in allowance of S$1,000 (S$1,000)
  • One-time airfare allowance of S$1,500 Singapore dollars
